Dust levels were elevated at the start of the night, but it did not appear they were climbing. There was a larger than normal discrepency between the Tower and 3.5m Encl 1.0u dust counts, but we couldn't confirm which was correct since the portable dust counter has been sent back to the manf. for recalibration again. We closed up around 20:35 as the dust levels seemed to be on the rise. We had a nice big dust event (23K counts) around midnight. Dust levels dropped below closure limits around 02:35 and I started the cooling fans again, as the telescope was now way out of thermal equilibrium. By the end of the night the two dust sensors seemed to a lot closer to one another than at the start of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 03:14 DISslit -380(-993) 72 57 4.1/6.4 292 23 none 1.4 03:16 NA2gdr -650(46349) 71 57 4.1/6.3 308 21 R 1.3 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 57 13 20 209 (SSW) 1394 Clear none 17:01 59 14 21 204 (SSW) 1422 Clear none 18:01 56 12 24 227 (SW) 2587 Clear none 19:01 54 13 24 237 (WSW) 3437 Clear none 20:01 50 9 19 227 (SW) 3645 Clear none 21:01 50 11 28 224 (SW) 4256 Clear dust 22:01 48 11 18 222 (SW) 6561 Clear dust 23:01 46 11 21 268 (W) 19147 Clear dust 00:01 45 10 15 270 (W) 22771 Clear dust 01:01 43 13 8 262 (W) 5947 Clear dust 02:01 41 14 17 283 (WNW) 4701 Clear dust 03:01 39 16 13 311 (NW) 2729 Clear none 04:01 38 16 19 291 (WNW) 2619 Clear none 05:01 37 17 15 280 (W) 2505 Pt.
