It took much longer for the primary to come to equalibrium due to work on the tertiary today. This may have contributed some to poor seeing however most of the effect was easterly and south easterly winds across the ridge. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Seeing improved during second half, but some slight cirrus moved in at the same time. We switched from DIS to GRIM shortly after 02:30. The telescope pointed quite well, and GRIM ran squarely on all four quads until morning. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:52 dis-slit 370(1476) 99 78 4.2/7.7 114 12 - 1.4 18:58 NA2gdr -3273(43726)101 79 3.8/7.1 114 10 R 1.27 21:24 dis-slit 150(1096) 130 57 2.2/3.1 163 7 - 2.3 21:35 NA2gdr 3000(50000) 134 59 2.6/3.0 138 14 clear 3.0 02:51 GrIm2(f/10) 140(1078) 285 68 3.9/3.6 212 13 J 0.58 02:53 NA2gdr 0(48000) 285 67 4.1/3.7 209 12 R 0.74 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 48 22 3 97 (E) - clear none 17:01 47 21 8 160 (SSE) - clear none 18:01 43 20 9 111 (ESE) - clear none 19:01 39 20 8 103 (ESE) - clear none 20:01 37 19 12 123 (ESE) - clear none 21:01 36 18 10 130 (SE) - clear none 22:01 39 13 10 156 (SSE) - clear none 23:01 38 15 17 155 (SSE) - clear none 00:01 39 19 13 180 (S) clear none 01:01 40 21 9 187 (S) cirrus none 02:01 40 21 9 195 (SSW) mstly clr none 03:01 39 23 10 197 (SSW) cirrus none 04:01 39 23 9 203 (SSW) cirrus none 05:01 41 23 11 207 (SSW) cirrus none 06:01 40 22 11 226 (SW) cirrus none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
