Dembicky Things ran generally smoothly tonight. The Slitviewer did quit a few times (it just would exit (ie. disappear off the screen) during an exposure and need to be restarted). I noticed it once for me and Don noted it doing this several times on him. It seemed to work fine for 2nd half though. The NA2 guider ICC locked up (needed a hard power cycle, ie. unplug it) for the 2nd half observer. It wasn't noticed until we tried to start guiding and the guidestar image didn't change from a previous exposure and the guider didn't seem to be showing me that it was running on the TCC. I had the problem fixed in about 3 mins so there was a minimal of time lost. Seeing was varible for the first half of the night as a front moved thru. Dust fluttered between 1200 - 3500 cts for the first half and the wind got a little gusty as the front passed by. We kept observing thru it, but I kept a close eye on weather/dust conditions. I had to do a grating change at the program change, but completed that in about 15 mins and had Jurek focused and on the sky about 15 mins later. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:21 DISslit -100(1174) 151 63 10.0/11.5 205 20 none 1.07 19:31 NA2gdr -5590(41409) 157 64 10.1/11.2 218 18 R 1.03 00:49 DISslit -40(1099) -102 41 5.9/6.2 273 18 none 2.00 00:51 NA2gdr -3000(44000) -102 41 5.6/6.2 282 20 R 2.23 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:02 55 16 25 225 (SW) 1379 Cloudy none 17:02 51 16 22 227 (SW) 1017 Cloudy none 18:02 51 18 18 210 (SSW) 1287 Cirrus none 19:02 49 15 16 199 (SSW) 0 Cirrus none 20:02 50 11 15 218 (SW) 0 Cirrus none 21:02 48 11 18 233 (SW) 0 Cirrus none 22:02 47 12 25 241 (WSW) 0 Clear none 23:02 45 13 18 262 (W) 0 Clear none 00:02 44 14 18 267 (W) 0 Clear none 01:02 42 17 18 269 (W) 0 Clear none 02:02 41 16 22 277 (W) 0 Clear none 03:02 40 17 20 267 (W) 0 Clear none 04:02 38 16 8 270 (W) 0 Clear none 05:02 37 16 10 295 (WNW) 0 Clear none 06:02 37 12 14 330 (NNW) 0 Clear none 07:02 37 10 9 333 (NNW) 0 Clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
