I opened a little before, sensing no danger of being precipitated upon, and waited until the clouds thinned sufficiently to focus. It was perfectly clear from that time until around 23:15 as high, thin cirrus started moving in from the west. Everything seemed to run smoothly and quietly throughout the remainder of the half. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half started out with thin cirrus which gradually thickened until, in combination with the moon, it prevented the observer from acquiring any of his very faint targets. He stopped for a while, but since the weather was not threatening I took the opportunity for a little bit of engineering. When the sky improved after 04:00, we returned to science, and by twilight the sky was mostly clear. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:31 DISslit 0(723) 147 79 -1.8/-1.0 271 8 - 1.49 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 32 -3 3 275 (W) MstlyClr none 17:01 32 2 16 276 (W) MstlyClr none 18:01 29 -2 11 282 (WNW) MstlyCldy none 19:01 29 -5 6 278 (W) MstlyCldy none 20:01 29 -2 8 241 (WSW) MstlyCldy none 21:01 28 0 7 261 (W) MstlyClr none 22:01 28 -1 8 241 (WSW) Clear none 23:01 29 -4 11 264 (W) MstlyClr none 00:01 29 -3 11 296 (WNW) MstlyClr none 01:01 29 -3 13 282 (WNW) cirrus none 02:01 28 -5 8 262 (W) cirrus none 03:01 27 -4 8 256 (WSW) ptly cldy none 04:01 26 -1 9 216 (SW) ptly cldy none 05:01 26 -2 9 211 (SSW) cirrus none 06:01 26 -4 9 234 (SW) mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
