During checkout, while setting up the software controlling the Shack-Hartmann for taking reference images, we (Craig, Bill and I) noted anomalous results. The images show all "high" pixels (i.e., at the maximum levels possible for the 14-bit CCD). Connections were checked and the "aliveness" of the camera verified by different software controllers. But we were not able to get the camera to produce otherwise "normal" images, and the problem was left unsolved pending contacting the manufacturer. Snow fell from about 20:30 to 22:00, resulting in the accumulation of about an inch and a half. Skies cleared later on, but due to the snow we remained closed. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was spent catching up on a paperwork backlog and changing the dome's profile to the wind about once an hour. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 20 12 10 307 (NW) MstlyCldy lt snow 17:01 20 11 14 271 (W) MstlyCldy lt snow 18:01 19 11 8 283 (WNW) MstlyCldy lt snow 19:01 19 10 4 262 (W) MstlyCldy lt snow 20:01 19 11 0 297 (WNW) MstlyCldy lt snow 21:01 18 15 5 355 (N) MstlyCldy snow 22:01 18 15 6 0 (N) MstlyCldy snow 23:01 17 15 8 26 (NNE) MstlyCldy snow 00:01 17 14 14 25 (NNE) PtlyCldy none 01:01 16 14 15 12 (NNE) Clear none 02:01 16 12 12 44 (NE) Clear none 03:01 16 12 8 357 (N) clear none 04:01 16 10 8 354 (N) clear none 05:01 16 9 8 335 (NNW) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
