No snow! Roof clear! Must! use! exclamation! points!!! Opened at 17:10 to cool, on the sky for twilight flats by 18:00. The half went very quietly until, shortly before 23:00, the network was taken down preemptively by Craig due to a security issue. Andrew reported losing contact with APO via Remark between 22:40 and 22:45 during a SPIcam exposure. I called UW to let Andrew know what was up and we attempted to recover. The network came back up at 23:15 and outside connections were restored quickly. For bookkeeping purposes, I recorded the whole episode as lost time: although Russet was able to read out the exposure underway when the network went down, uncertainty about the actual exposure time and less flux in the resulting image than expected led Andrew to reject the image as science-worthy. No further interruptions for the rest of the half. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half started out with photometric conditions and excellent seeing. Later we had some thin cirrus and moderate seeing. Everything worked perfectly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW05 S T/S 22:35 23:16 Network outage ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:02 SPIcam 50(896) -20 80 -0.8/-1.6 9 15 r' 0.98 20:03 NA2gdr 1005(50005) -21 80 -0.8/-1.5 24 16 R 1.03 00:33 DISslit 100(771) 144 70 -1.5/-2.5 358 11 - 0.87 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 32 19 10 327 (NNW) MstlyClr none 17:01 30 18 2 298 (WNW) MstlyClr none 18:01 29 18 2 11 (N) Clear none 19:01 28 17 21 27 (NNE) Clear none 20:01 31 9 11 26 (NNE) Clear none 21:01 30 14 10 15 (NNE) Clear none 22:01 29 17 3 359 (N) Clear none 23:01 29 17 6 356 (N) Clear none 00:01 29 18 7 12 (NNE) Clear none 01:01 29 18 7 356 (N) clear none 02:01 27 18 0 14 (NNE) clear none 03:01 26 18 3 358 (N) mstly clr none 04:01 27 18 7 354 (N) mstly clr none 05:01 27 17 7 355 (N) mstly clr none 06:01 33 3 0 241 (WSW) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
