There was blowing snow at the ground level all of first half but I went up to the dome on several occasions but could not see or feel any indication that snow off the trees was entering the observing level. At 2000, observer complained that there was no star in their field. A bad magnasensor reading was the cause and a couple quick slews and we were back on his field again. Don reported 1/2 arcsec "jerks" in guider motion at 2124. I could not locate a cause but am noting it here anyways. At 2248, Don requested a refocus. As soon as I started the focus routine the slitviewer crashed. A quick reboot remedied the problem. 2nd half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky Other than the guider crashing at the very start of the 2nd half, no problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UC04 E T/H --:-- --:-- Bad magnasensor error UC04 E I/S --:-- --:-- Guider crashed UW08 E I/S --:-- --:-- Guider crashed ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:00 Echelle -163(-453) 160 76 -7.6/-6.0 294 13 nd2 1.3 18:09 Echelle -137(-412) 107 60 -7.5/-6.4 289 9 nd2 1.2 21:10 Echelle 44(-310) 187 52 -8.3/-8.9 355 16 nd2 1.6 22:54 Echelle 110(-298) 213 63 -8.4/-9.3 26 22 nd3 1.4 00:20 Echelle 42(-378) 296 75 -8.2/-9.0 10 17 nd2 1.04 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 20 5 7 276 (W) - clear none 17:01 20 3 13 288 (WNW) - clear none 18:01 18 -1 22 305 (NW) - clear none 19:01 19 -4 7 327 (NNW) - clear none 20:01 17 -4 8 6 (N) - clear none 21:01 17 -2 5 358 (N) - clear none 22:01 17 -1 20 11 (N) - clear none 23:01 17 -4 21 19 (NNE) - clear none 00:01 18 -4 14 11 (N) - clear none 01:01 17 -5 19 23 (NNE) - clear none 02:01 20 -14 23 25 (NNE) - clear none 03:01 22 -22 15 345 (NNW) - clear none 04:01 23 -23 15 6 (N) - clear none 05:01 21 -23 15 15 (NNE) - clear none 06:01 19 -20 8 1 (N) - clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
