A few hours past sunset however seeing was moderate to good but highly variable. Exciting first half. A GRB afterglow TOO was requested for first half. The target was not transiting until after midnight so the time last 2 hours of first half was set aside for it. Discussing the oppurtunity with Ed Turner and Fred Hearty it was suggested and agreed to use NicFps to chase this target which thus far had no optical counterpart. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan The GRB observations ran a little bit into second half, then we switched over to DIS and settled down for lots of really boring observing (the best kind!). Clear skies and moderate seeing and no problems. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:19 dis-slit 0(1188) 177 77 8.6/9.8 12 14 - 0.98 18:21 NA2gdr 0(31000) 179 77 8.9/9.8 358 23 R 0.71 19:56 NA2gdr -1500(29500) 210 53 8.4/8.8 6 20 clear 1.64 22:41 nicfps * 150(1674) 99 52 8.0/8.1 6 25 J 0.9 00:43 DISslit 50(1219) 208 51 8.6/7.9 7 19 - 1.1 00:44 NA2gdr -2540(28459)209 50 8.7/8.0 15 25 R 1.08 * Instrument zeropoint changed after this measurement ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 48 4 14 2 (N) 27 clear none 17:01 48 3 14 354 (N) 26 clear none 18:01 48 5 3 344 (NNW) 21 clear none 19:01 48 9 17 15 (NNE) 39 clear none 20:01 47 11 13 12 (NNE) 41 clear none 21:01 47 11 4 350 (N) 42 clear none 22:01 47 14 15 11 (N) 62 clear none 23:01 46 17 19 6 (N) 92 clear none 00:01 48 10 22 7 (N) 41 clear none 01:01 47 6 21 19 (NNE) 30 clear none 02:01 46 5 9 358 (N) 17 clear none 03:01 46 5 13 349 (NNW) 31 clear none 04:01 45 5 23 21 (NNE) 24 clear none 05:01 49 -2 21 25 (NNE) 21 clear none 06:01 51 -6 21 24 (NNE) 19 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
