Conditions were poor toward sunset, with overcast skies and fog. Not long after the dewpoint dropped sharply. At 21:30 we began ventilating in hopes of opening shortly to get sky rings with the NIC-FPS etalon. By 21:45 we were confident enough as to the weather situation in order to open. Just after midnight we had a problem with the filter wheels, which failed on a requested move. Recovery from this required care in order to assure that the software did not lose track of the absolute position of the wheels. Not long after we fixed the filter wheel problem, clouds increased to the point where we couldn't do any useful work, so we waited out the weather. We closed at 04:15 due to high humidity, and stayed closed for the rest of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFNVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- EN02 N I/H 00:06 01:00 Filter wheel move failure ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:27 nicfps 200(1461) 136 42 1.4/1.0 188 16 J 0.72 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 34 29 12 178 (S) 865 MstlyCldy none 17:01 33 30 13 179 (S) 1896 Overcast none 18:01 32 31 11 182 (S) 1708 Overcast none 19:01 34 18 13 184 (S) 239 Overcast none 20:01 34 22 11 221 (SW) 334 MstlyCldy none 21:01 35 24 15 218 (SW) 340 PtlyCldy none 22:01 35 27 12 203 (SSW) 485 PtlyCldy none 23:01 34 27 12 191 (S) 466 PtlyCldy none 00:01 35 25 16 203 (SSW) 436 PtlyCldy none 01:01 35 27 12 222 (SW) 499 PtlyCldy none 02:01 35 27 6 254 (WSW) 433 PtlyCldy none 03:01 35 27 6 216 (SW) 371 PtlyCldy none 04:01 32 27 0 184 (S) 467 PtlyCldy none 05:01 32 28 5 161 (SSE) 625 PtlyCldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
