There were apparently a lot of very different airmasses floating around the mountain, so that temperature and dewpoint showed huge variation both on short timescales and short spatial scales (as determined by large differences between the 3.5m and the PT dewpoint sensors). We opened during twilight with no prior fan-cooling, we got a few hours of work done, and then we were at the mercy of the weather gods' whims. During the open time, we did accomplish first light on the science chip and first light with the etalon on the sky. We took an instrument block (very little change from the previous run with the engineering chip) and image-quality characterization data on several clusters. New software with dither scripts for NIC-FPS was tested out. We were just starting to work with the FP etalon when weather closed us down. The 60 KHz noise evident during the previous run has disappeared, but there were some other manifestations of noise that merit further investigation. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:50 nicfps 100 J 0.60 22:16 nicfps 150(1383) -31 48 2.7/0.9 286 0 Ksh 0.95 22:26 nicfps 250(1489) -32 46 2.9/0.9 255 1 etalon 0.93 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 37 30 11 313 (NW) 201 mstly clr none 17:01 34 32 3 349 (NNW) 371 mstly clr none 18:01 35 26 11 358 (N) 179 ptly cldy none 19:01 34 28 5 352 (N) 223 ptly cldy none 20:01 34 27 3 303 (WNW) 125 ptly cldy none 21:01 33 30 1 112 (ESE) 316 ptly cldy none 22:01 36 14 6 60 (ENE) 75 ptly cldy none 23:01 33 30 2 196 (SSW) 315 ptly cldy none 00:01 33 28 1 197 (SSW) 230 ptly cldy none 01:01 32 30 6 225 (SW) 428 ptly cldy none 02:01 33 24 4 262 (W) 210 ptly cldy none 03:01 33 27 5 275 (W) 204 ptly cldy none 04:01 34 27 5 265 (W) 197 ptly cldy none 05:01 33 29 8 240 (WSW) 308 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
