Clouds moved in around 20:30 and spoiled my photon collecting fun. No other problems. 2nd half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan The clouds cleared up near 03:00 in what appeared to be a sucker hole, but after some consideration I decided we could go for it. We opened and weather remained mostly clear with good to moderate seeing for the rest of the morning. At 06:05 the observers mentioned an error with the azimuth in TUI. This turned out to be a motor overcurrent. When it repeated on the next slew, I declared the night over. Diagnosis will be needed by the daystaff. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NM01 D T/H 06:05 06:19 Az motors overcurrenting ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:04 dis-slit -150(1087) 163 77 9.3/10.8 231 12 - 1.12 19:07 NA2gdr -4795(26204)165 77 9.2/10.7 242 13 R 0.96 19:20 dis-slit 0(1275) 147 53 9.4/10.4 213 16 - 1.26 19:22 NA2gdr 429(31429) 148 53 9.3/10.3 237 16 R 1.14 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 55 24 19 251 (WSW) 459 clear none 17:01 53 24 15 263 (W) 544 clear none 18:01 51 25 16 244 (WSW) 550 clear none 19:01 49 27 13 213 (SSW) 589 clear none 20:01 50 27 12 236 (SW) 663 clear none 21:01 50 27 20 234 (SW) 819 clear none 22:01 50 28 19 198 (SSW) 780 cloudy none 23:01 51 28 22 212 (SSW) 888 cloudy none 00:01 50 27 23 215 (SW) 781 cloudy none 01:01 50 27 23 207 (SSW) 717 cloudy none 02:01 49 28 23 200 (SSW) 641 mstly cldy none 03:01 48 28 23 231 (SW) 716 ptly cldy none 04:01 48 28 22 213 (SSW) 568 ptly cldy none 05:01 48 28 14 262 (W) 485 mstly clr none 06:01 47 22 15 237 (WSW) 347 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
