Seeing was very variable at the start of the night with an east wind. By midnight things had settled down and the wind direction changed to the south. Seeing was excellent for the 2nd half. At around 04:50 the NA2 guider stopped guiding for some reason. I didn't want to expend a great deal of time trying to fix the problem and taking valuable observing time so I had the observer manually guide while I looked into a fix and do some diagnosis of the problem for Craig. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- NM05 O I/S --:-- -- NA2 guider stopped guiding ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:11 DISslit 50(1261) 44 49 6.3/9.1 154 3 none 1.5 19:24 NA2gdr 13(31013) 39 51 6.7/8.7 102 1 R 1.2 20:17 DISslit -75(1058) 8 58 6.3/7.7 127 2 none 2.4 20:26 NA2gdr 1192(32192) 3 59 5.8/7.5 110 5 R 1.54 01:04 NA2gdr -2355(28645) -52 44 7.7/6.8 182 7 R 0.89 ------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 43 36 1 270 (W) 302 Clear none 17:01 46 23 2 98 (E) 374 Clear none 18:01 45 29 0 48 (NE) 349 Clear none 19:01 44 28 7 176 (S) 338 Clear none 20:01 43 24 3 128 (SE) 438 Clear none 21:01 43 29 5 171 (S) 378 Clear none 22:01 44 27 6 195 (SSW) 366 Clear none 23:01 45 25 1 201 (SSW) 320 Clear none 00:01 45 24 2 185 (S) 300 Clear none 01:01 45 22 5 181 (S) 261 Clear none 02:01 45 22 9 181 (S) 50 Clear none 03:01 46 20 6 183 (S) 84 Clear none 04:01 46 20 6 226 (SW) 82 Clear none 05:01 47 19 11 251 (WSW) 83 Clear none 06:01 45 21 10 281 (W) 142 Clear none 07:01 45 20 13 290 (WNW) 176 Clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
