Things ran smoothly from this end. The observer reported that their Mac crashed once, but minimal time was lost. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was clear, apparently photometric, with moderate to poor seeing. After the remote observer's Mac crash during first half, I noticed a slowdown in the MC for a few minutes, but it recovered on its own. Around 01:30 the observer told me that he'd had some trouble with his connection, and just after that message arrived, the MC hung up for several minutes. I phoned the observer and discovered that when his image was reading out, it had reached the point of "Sending image to MC" and then gotten stuck. When I investigated, it turned out that the image in question (second in a series of three) had never made it to disk. The echelle ICC looked normal but was idle, not writing the second image or exposing the third image. I rebooted the echelle ICC and also restarted the MC just in case. After that, I ran the slitviewer from this end to ensure that pipeline problems between here and UW wouldn't affect the entire MC, and there were no repeats. We also had one crash of the echelle slitviewer ICC, but the telescope tracked well for the full ten minutes it took us to notice the problem, so no time and very few photons were lost. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW12 E I/S 01:11 01:51 MC problem?
