Seeing was moderate all evening. John B. took cals and we were able to open and have the telescope focused prior to 12 degree twilight at which point Don took over for the rest of the first half. There was some difficulties at 21:45 when the observer attempted to do dark subtraction with the echelle guider. This caused the hub to hang up. Don had to quit his remark and restart. There was some crossed communications between the two of us during this time and somehow we managed to get the echelle icc and the hub to start an instrument exposure and guiding from each of our Remarks. This took a few minutes and rebooting the icc to straighten it all out. In the process Craig was able to identify a few bugs in the icc and hub software. Second half went very smoothly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UC04 E I/S 21:45 21:51 Slitviewer Dark Subtract Bug UC04 E I/S 21:51 21:58 ICC accepted 2 simult. exp.s ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:11 dis-slit 30(880) 82 70 -0.3/1.6 301 5 - 1.09 18:14 NA2gdr -993(46006) 82 70 -0.2/1.6 322 7 R 0.9 18:27 Echelle -28(-4) 78 76 -0.3/1.3 307 7 clear 1.2 19:06 Echelle -99(-86) -7 63 -0.4/0.5 246 6 nd2 1.2 20:25 Echelle 8(17) 166 51 -0.4/-0.5 186 7 nd1 1.24 00:15 dis-slit 50(777) 224 75 0.0/-1.0 269 13 - 1.15 00:29 NA2gdr -3044(43955)232 73 0.0/-0.6 266 13 R 1.0 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 34 15 6 342 (NNW) - clear none 17:01 33 14 5 335 (NNW) - clear none 18:01 31 14 6 338 (NNW) - clear none 19:01 31 15 4 246 (WSW) - clear none 20:01 31 15 6 195 (SSW) - clear none 21:01 31 14 9 192 (SSW) - clear none 22:01 31 14 15 209 (SSW) - clear none 23:01 31 13 13 200 (SSW) - clear none 00:01 31 13 13 245 (WSW) - clear none 01:01 31 14 13 263 (W) - clear none 02:01 30 15 16 260 (W) - clear none 03:01 29 15 16 282 (WNW) - clear none 04:01 29 14 22 275 (W) - clear none 05:01 29 14 12 265 (W) - prtly cldy cirrus 06:01 29 13 19 277 (W) - clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
