Tom gave up at about 22:15 once he had decided the situation was hopeless. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan The clouds thinned around midnight enough for us to open and observe some brighter targets. After 03:00 it became mostly clear. Seeing was around or below an arcsecond for most of second half. We did not notice until too late that the wrong gratings were in place for the second half observer; rm+bm instead of rm+bl. This did not hinder the science, but it's a mistake that we will have to try to avoid in future. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:52 DISslit 50(765) 206 60 -1.7/-2.0 325 16 - 0.95 00:53 NA2gdr 0(47000) 206 60 -1.7/-2.0 325 16 clear 0.82 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 31 9 3 270 (W) PtlyCldy none 17:01 30 8 1 335 (NNW) MstlyCldy none 18:01 30 8 3 322 (NW) Overcast none 19:01 30 8 7 298 (WNW) Overcast none 20:01 30 9 7 305 (NW) Overcast none 21:01 29 9 6 290 (WNW) Overcast none 22:01 29 12 7 287 (WNW) Overcast none 23:01 29 12 8 297 (WNW) Overcast none 00:01 29 11 5 290 (WNW) mstly cldy none 01:01 29 11 18 299 (WNW) mstly cldy none 02:01 27 9 11 300 (WNW) ptly cldy none 03:01 26 9 7 285 (WNW) mstly clr none 04:01 25 8 9 330 (NNW) mstly clr none 05:01 25 11 11 322 (NW) clear none 06:01 25 12 8 312 (NW) clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
