As I was finishing focusing it was noticed that a moth had taken up residence in the Shack Hartmann instrument. C.Loomis was still here and evicted this stow-away. It had climbed under the lenslet array so wasnt easy to remove. Thanks Craig! I had some difficulty finding a star with the Shack Hartmann but once that was accomplished I adjusted the tertiary tilts for this instrument. Then I did 2 altitude sweeps. I wasnt convinced wether the seeing or the focus was off during the first sweep, that is why I did a second. This data will have to be reduced at a later date. Therefore, the secondary tilt coefficents could not be computed/implemented at this time. At 03:00, I switched back to SPIcam to try some scattered light tests. I was rather sorry I had waited until then to read J.Morgans very complicated instructions. After several rereads and at first trying to do coordinate frame transformations and exposure time calculations on the fly I finally figured out a simple scheme to do portion of the test. I did one of the multiple sweeps that was asked for in part 1 of Jeffs instructions. This was a lunar position verses dome slit angle of 2 degrees taking data at altitudes relative to the moons of 2,4,8,16,32,0,-2,-4,-8 and -16 degrees of the current lunar position. Further details will be sent to J.Morgan. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- EN01 SH I/H 20:30 21:00 Moth inside S-H ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:25 SPIcam 150(1484) 119 49 12.1/13.7 11 6 V 1.0 21:34 SPIcam -175(1030) 114 74 10.5/12.2 51 15 6585/201.2 00:56 S-H 0(1458) 278 55 10.1/10.1 34 15 - 1.5 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 59 33 5 267 (W) 478 Prtly cldy none 17:01 61 35 9 262 (W) 389 Prtly cldy none 18:01 57 33 17 301 (WNW) 440 Prtly cldy none 19:01 55 33 4 330 (NNW) 483 Prtly cldy none 20:01 54 33 12 7 (N) 556 Prtly cldy none 21:01 53 33 8 31 (NNE) 517 clear none 22:01 52 33 15 32 (NNE) 641 clear none 23:01 50 39 12 58 (ENE) 553 clear none 00:01 51 31 15 29 (NNE) 314 clear none 01:01 50 32 12 44 (NE) 340 clear none 02:01 50 32 8 354 (N) 338 clear none 03:01 49 32 7 311 (NW) 329 clear none 04:01 47 33 6 324 (NW) 422 clear none 05:01 47 33 7 280 (W) 471 clear none 06:01 44 37 8 250 (WSW) 570 clear none 07:01 45 38 0 202 (SSW) 683 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
