Toward midnight the clouds dissipated and the humidity began to drop, although the wind shifted to the northeast and increased to about 30MPH. After watching the humidity drop to comfortable levels, we opened just after midnight with enough time for Iskra to get in one object spectrum and cals before end of first half. After the handover, Carrie began with GRIM. During the next three hours the sky conditions varied, but not enough to cause us to close. Shortly after 4, with Mars at an increasingly large airmass and skies becoming less photometric, she opted to switch to Mars. With the enclosure shutters stopped down to an opening only about 1 foot wide, we imaged Mars in visible light through narrowband filters to provide context images for her infrared data. The east wind for most of tonight after about 2100 made for very poor seeing. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 00:20 DISslit 0(861) 183 77 10.0/12.7 64 27 - 1.88 01:23 GrIm2(f/5) 50(949) 149 64 9.7/10.7 61 27 J 1.42 02:34 GrIm2(f/5) 150(1023) 199 78 11.7/10.6 48 17 J 1.22 04:33 SPIcam -25(1095) 196 76 11.3/10.5 48 17 V 1.91 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 56 53 0 296 (WNW) 277 MstlyCldy rain 17:01 57 52 4 267 (W) 218 MstlyCldy rain 18:01 57 51 2 357 (N) 340 MstlyCldy none 19:01 58 51 4 283 (WNW) 308 MstlyCldy none 20:01 56 51 0 324 (NW) 264 MstlyCldy none 21:01 52 51 10 81 (E) 152 MstlyCldy none 22:01 50 49 20 75 (ENE) 1627 PtlyCldy none 23:01 49 47 21 60 (ENE) 84 PtlyCldy none 00:01 50 45 23 64 (ENE) 99 MstlyClr none 01:01 50 44 27 53 (NE) 57 MstlyClr none 02:01 52 43 24 60 (ENE) 64 MstlyClr none 03:01 53 40 13 16 (NNE) 64 MstlyClr none 04:01 51 43 18 44 (NE) 34 MstlyClr none 05:01 53 41 15 36 (NE) 46 MstlyClr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
