The clouds were a bit thicker, the seeing a bit worse (3 arcsec eventually settling to 0.9 arcsec). The biggest difference weather-wise was a spate of high wind gusts that closed us for just over an hour. It was an excellent night for moth-watching as well; I dumped about a kilomoth out of the traps on the observing level during checkout. The first half observer once again had a little trouble with slowdowns on his Mac while full-frame slitviewer images were transferring. We managed to arrange it so that he usually didn't have to take full-frame images. The only other trouble for the night was a crash of the NA2 guider Mac near morning twilight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:19 Echelle -150(228) 122 43 16.5/18.2 75 24 ND2 3.1 23:03 Echelle -100(166) 4 60 16.4/16.8 75 19 ND2 2.9 01:15 SPIcam 50(1407) 85 55 17.1/16.3 319 8 empty 1.41 01:33 SPIcam -75(1269) 87 59 16.1/16.1 286 2 r' 1.35 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 63 32 10 353 (N) 249 ptly cldy none 17:01 67 29 10 38 (NE) 221 ptly cldy none 18:01 68 39 5 97 (E) 403 ptly cldy none 19:01 68 39 9 73 (ENE) 454 ptly cldy none 20:01 65 37 18 73 (ENE) 367 ptly cldy none 21:01 62 39 6 94 (E) 530 ptly cldy none 22:01 61 36 26 61 (ENE) 452 ptly cldy none 23:01 62 37 15 67 (ENE) 463 ptly cldy none 00:01 61 38 16 59 (ENE) 520 ptly cldy none 01:01 63 36 8 332 (NNW) 671 ptly cldy none 02:01 62 36 6 321 (NW) 680 mstly clr none 03:01 61 39 3 349 (NNW) 641 mstly clr none 04:01 63 38 9 359 (N) 693 clear none 05:01 63 36 11 27 (NNE) 646 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
