Dembicky Started cooling around 19:30 but kept the enclosure closed due to weather. We finally opened the enclosure around 21:10. The 1st half observers decided to "test" the automatic stop feature of the telescope when one lets the telescope track up to 85 deg alt and then starts honking at you. The telescope performed admirably, although the observers weren't so happy. We had a lighting within 15 miles at around 01:00 and the weather in the basin and on radar looked threatening so I opted to close. It started raining around 02:30 then lighting in the vicinity kept us closed until around 03:50. After I was sure that we weren't going to get suprised by any thunderstorms in the area (they were now in the SW and heading away from us, although we still had clouds low around the skyline, I decided to open up at 04:00. Don just finished taking a guider image with the Echelle and was about ready for me to switch to DIS to take an image with that guider when thick clouds quickly moved in and shut us down for the remainder of the night. As I closed up I could see the clouds around us dropping rain all around, but dry here still (very strange to have a morning shower, but we are getting close to the start of the monsoon season.) ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:29 SPIcam -10(1276) 92 65 18.0/18.1 126 18 clear 0.93 21:36 NA2gdr 4400(53400) 92 65 17.8/18.0 126 17 R 0.94 04:13 Echelle -14(61) -24 72 16.4/15.9 206 8 ND1 1.14 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 61 44 8 51 (NE) 549 Cloudy none 17:01 62 37 13 14 (NNE) 429 Cloudy none 18:01 67 32 10 0 (N) 370 Cloudy none 19:01 67 39 17 65 (ENE) 337 Cloudy none 20:01 65 40 16 69 (ENE) 454 Pt.
