Since the scheduled DIS observations were impossible, we used the time for still more checkout of the new echelle slitviewer and control software. By 22:00, extinction was more than 5 magnitudes. I closed up until the clouds began to clear, shortly before 01:00. Second half had some clear patches along with a selection of thinner clouds that hampered but did not prevent observations; seeing was excellent for a few hours but eventually increased to nearly 2 arcseconds. I snattched another half hour for echelle work in the morning twilight. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:23 Echelle -19(-48) 126 63 9.9/10.5 288 24 ND2 1.26 01:17 DISslit -100(663) 162 59 9.4/9.2 252 10 - 0.95 01:18 NA2gdr 977(41977) 163 60 9.4/9.2 252 10 R 0.84 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 55 18 21 276 (W) 1019 mstly cldy none 17:01 52 15 26 242 (WSW) 953 mstly cldy none 18:01 51 13 23 257 (WSW) 952 mstly cldy none 19:01 52 11 26 258 (WSW) 956 mstly cldy none 20:01 50 8 18 242 (WSW) 1057 mstly cldy none 21:01 49 5 15 294 (WNW) 1080 mstly cldy none 22:01 50 7 11 277 (W) 1015 cloudy none 23:01 50 8 10 270 (W) 1118 cloudy none 00:01 50 8 12 263 (W) 919 mstly cldy none 01:01 49 8 14 247 (WSW) 1011 mstly cldy none 02:01 49 8 13 235 (SW) 975 ptly cldy none 03:01 49 8 13 255 (WSW) 1047 ptly cldy none 04:01 48 9 14 242 (WSW) 923 ptly cldy none 05:01 46 9 17 238 (WSW) 999 ptly cldy none 06:01 44 11 13 264 (W) 993 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
