When we did get open, there was some doubt as to who had the right to the telescope, since Don York had been told he could use twilight this week for checking out the new echelle slitviewer. Since the scheduled observers needed twilight flats, and considerable checkout of the slitviewer has already been done, I advised Don to wait until tomorrow for his twilight work. With Don and Bob Loewenstein logged in, we did manage to track down a bug in the more recent versions of Remark, and Bob eliminated that to make it very likely that a new version will soon be declared official. Observations went smoothly all night under a variety of transparency and seeing conditions. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:23 SPIcam -100(934) 206 64 8.4/9.6 247 22 i' 1.20 20:25 NA2gdr 723(49723) 207 64 8.4/9.4 239 21 R 1.11 22:22 SPIcam -150(788) -54 69 7.7/7.8 297 18 r' 1.06 22:24 NA2gdr 570(49570) -54 69 7.8/7.9 293 18 Clear 1.24 00:00 DISslit -125(610) -65 43 7.7/7.3 273 16 - 1.38 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 54 13 20 261 (W) 546 mstly clr none 17:01 55 13 18 260 (W) 826 mstly clr none 18:01 53 12 21 247 (WSW) 1012 mstly clr none 19:01 50 9 15 249 (WSW) 1398 mstly clr none 20:01 47 8 26 257 (WSW) 1555 clear none 21:01 47 7 20 259 (W) 729 clear none 22:01 47 8 19 263 (W) 859 clear none 23:01 46 8 13 269 (W) 727 clear none 00:01 46 5 14 278 (W) 777 ptly cldy none 01:01 45 6 12 278 (W) 881 ptly cldy none 02:01 44 9 19 266 (W) 1111 ptly cldy none 03:01 43 9 17 269 (W) 1102 mstly clr none 04:01 42 13 14 267 (W) 1172 mstly clr none 05:01 41 15 16 267 (W) 1103 mstly clr none 06:01 40 16 17 271 (W) 981 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
