Two science programs got data during first half (one for a sinking target and one as makeup for observations messed up earlier by an observatory mistake), and three and a half engineering tasks got done second half (DIS throughput, Echelle rotation, SH measurement, and confirmation of offset directions for SPIcam and DIS). Problems included another manifestation of the NMSU firewall problem (I ran the slitviewer for the remote observer), a dead ethernet card for the SH machine (fixed -- thanks to Him Who Shall Remain Nameless), a gmonitor display problem (fixed -- thanks to HWSRN), and a TUI offset bug (reported in detail by HWSRN). None of those problems cost any observing time, need I say why? All mechanical stuff worked very nicely tonight, thanks to Jon Davis especially, as well as Dave Woods and Mark Klaene for much hard work over the past week. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:56 DISslit -100(1016) 273 56 15.7/16.7 295 5 - 1.02 23:36 SPIcam -100(1179) 255 68 15.4/15.4 171 4 r' 0.92 01:37 DISslit -50(953) 275 43 14.2/13.3 177 8 - 1.6 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 68 27 6 269 (W) 413 mstl clr none 18:01 65 25 9 303 (WNW) 351 mstl clr none 19:01 64 23 13 310 (NW) 306 mstl clr none 20:01 61 18 5 276 (W) 378 mstl clr none 21:01 61 15 2 298 (WNW) 434 haze none 22:01 61 18 3 346 (NNW) 459 haze none 23:01 60 18 4 255 (WSW) 452 ptly cldy none 00:01 58 20 9 152 (SSE) 529 ptly cldy none 01:01 51 26 6 96 (E) 567 ptly cldy none 02:01 57 19 6 177 (S) 954 mstl clr none 03:01 55 19 7 169 (SSE) 990 mstl clr none 04:01 57 17 2 210 (SSW) 960 mstl clr none 05:01 58 17 7 191 (S) 912 clear none 06:01 54 17 7 182 (S) 994 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
