We battled waves of wind and dust counts that crept upward until they forced closure around 22:10. Dust remained over the closure limit for the remainder of first half. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Dust levels began to drop just after midnight, and by 01:00 they had reached acceptable levels. First we went for some followup spectroscopy on the recent bright GRB. John Barentine was kind enough to stick around and help out with those observations. When that was all done, I handed the telescope and instrument back over to Bhasker for the remainder of the morning. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:19 DISslit -100(331) 176 77 1.9/2.3 247 23 - 1.43 21:22 NA2gdr 1622(42622) 180 77 2.1/2.3 278 21 R 1.09 01:35 DISslit -100(318) 289 57 2.0/1.4 273 15 - 1.1 01:39 NA2gdr 292(41292) 290 56 1.7/1.3 268 8 R 0.97 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 40 3 15 265 (W) 448 Clear none 17:01 43 5 12 260 (W) 491 Clear none 18:01 42 3 20 282 (WNW) 545 Clear none 19:01 38 1 25 225 (SW) 751 Clear none 20:01 35 -2 20 231 (SW) 1132 Clear none 21:01 35 -3 15 261 (W) 718 Clear none 22:01 36 -1 21 263 (W) 1026 PtlyCldy dust 23:01 35 -1 17 272 (W) 4832 MstlyCldy dust 00:01 35 -1 7 268 (W) 5916 MstlyCldy dust 01:01 35 0 13 288 (WNW) 1127 PtlyCldy dust 02:01 35 0 15 285 (WNW) 791 Clear none 03:01 34 0 14 269 (W) 822 clear none 04:01 34 0 8 266 (W) 766 clear none 05:01 32 0 13 301 (WNW) 791 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
