Russet used some of the twilight time to continue the characterization of the new Echelle guider, then handed the telescope over at a quarter past eight. Things ran smoothly. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Clear skies, no moon, excellent seeing, good pointing, no problems, ho-hum. Oh, wait, there was one minor challenge; because the seeing was too good, we had to change the binning on the NA2 guider so that stars could be distinguished from cosmic rays. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:25 SPIcam -150(954) 196 77 10.6/11.8 190 8 B 0.59 20:31 SPIcam -100(998) 203 77 10.5/11.6 215 13 clear 0.81 20:40 NA2gdr 1067(50067) 210 76 10.5/11.3 201 10 R 0.72 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 60 18 18 236 (SW) 1110 PtlyCldy none 17:01 57 17 20 266 (W) 1203 PtlyCldy none 18:01 59 20 14 208 (SSW) 1128 PtlyCldy none 19:01 55 17 13 236 (SW) 1191 MstlyClr none 20:01 51 15 9 243 (WSW) 1359 Clear none 21:01 51 14 10 196 (SSW) 1288 Clear none 22:01 51 15 7 223 (SW) 1316 Clear none 23:01 51 14 7 241 (WSW) 1443 Clear none 00:01 50 14 9 235 (SW) 1486 Clear none 01:01 50 15 9 226 (SW) 1762 clear none 02:01 50 13 7 265 (W) 1685 clear none 03:01 51 11 7 275 (W) 1630 clear none 04:01 50 9 9 276 (W) 1654 clear none 05:01 50 10 6 266 (W) 1700 clear none 06:01 49 11 2 247 (WSW) 1636 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
