Closed at 19:30 to allow Paula to take some cals with the dome dark. Open again just before 20:00 to continue cooling while waiting for the sky to darken. First half was quiet, seeing varying between aout 0.9-1.4 arcsec. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan This night was again quite peaceful, although less idyllic than the previous two nights. We had clear skies and subarcsecond seeing for the first few hours of second half, then some cirrus moved in and seeing puffed up to 2 arcseconds shortly before 03:00 MDT. The seeing later settled down again, but the clouds stuck around. Everything worked well except for a crash of the guider Mac around 04:45, requiring a power-cycle to reboot it. I finished up with some more testing and characterization of the new echelle slitviewer. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:21 dis-slit -150(754) 187 71 10.9/12.6 233 19 - 1.38 20:29 NA2gdr 1835(42835) 194 70 10.8/12.3 254 16 clear 0.87 05:46 Echelle -21(-125) 235 56 8.6/8.5 318 14 ND2 1.06 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 58 9 23 248 (WSW) 907 MstlyClr none 17:01 58 14 20 266 (W) 1182 MstlyClr none 18:01 58 12 20 267 (W) 1185 MstlyClr none 19:01 56 11 19 247 (WSW) 1068 Clear none 20:01 51 10 18 252 (WSW) 833 Clear none 21:01 51 10 15 246 (WSW) 885 Clear none 22:01 51 11 16 235 (SW) 820 Clear none 23:01 50 12 13 263 (W) 698 Clear none 00:01 49 14 14 296 (WNW) 974 Clear none 01:01 49 15 8 274 (W) 886 clear none 02:01 49 16 19 283 (WNW) 955 clear none 03:01 49 14 14 306 (NW) 826 ptly cldy none 04:01 48 14 5 333 (NNW) 863 ptly cldy none 05:01 48 16 12 309 (NW) 955 ptly cldy none 06:01 47 17 11 333 (NNW) 954 ptly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
