I opened the enclosure around 17:30. We had a minor problem with accumulating guider offsets and the fact the the observer was using horizon coordinates (not a problem, just didn't help matters). When they went back to their first field the stars were no longer there due to the pointing going off. I did a pointing correction and Russet zero'ed the guider offsets (and asked why the observer was using horizon coordinates). It was a quick fix and they observer was back to taking data with a minimal of time loss. Since UW had a transient program and none of their targets were during the 2nd half of the night, they graciously donated the time back to us if we could find a suitable program or they would find something useful to do with the time. I found a NMSU program on site that was able to use the time for useful science with DIS. I changed the gratings back to the normal Red-Med/Blue-Low for the 2nd half observer around 00:50 since the first half finished. At 03:35 I turned the Red and Blue ion pumps off for DIS as well as both the Red and Blue CryroTigers. Since we needed to start warming DIS (the instrument of choice for the 2nd half program) and Russet was already on site (observing for Atsuko, 2nd half) I let her have complete control of the telescope to take some engineering S-H data. Russet adjusted the collimation and then took another series of S-H data to check, but the seeing had started to degrade. She then did a pointing model since she changed the collimation. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:30 DISslit -310(506) 121 66 10.9/13.5 245 14 none 1.04 20:41 NA2gdr 199(41199) 126 68 10.5/13.2 237 14 R 1.01 01:27 DISslit -125(523) 65 73 9.2/9.5 272 14 none 1.1 01:32 NA2gdr 935(41935) 64 74 9.6/9.5 286 17 clear 1.38 03:45 S-H -80(1153) 130 58 8.4/8.3 285 15 none good --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 62 14 29 209 (SSW) 1102 Clear none 17:01 61 14 22 251 (WSW) 1068 Clear none 18:01 58 12 19 253 (WSW) 1207 Clear none 19:01 55 11 12 267 (W) 1126 Clear none 20:01 52 12 13 248 (WSW) 1221 Clear none 21:01 52 12 14 257 (WSW) 1173 Clear none 22:01 52 12 13 266 (W) 1443 Clear none 23:01 51 14 19 244 (WSW) 1219 Clear none 00:01 49 16 18 258 (WSW) 967 Clear none 01:01 49 17 16 276 (W) 939 Clear none 02:01 49 16 17 269 (W) 1025 Lt.
