Seeing was highly variable all evening. 2nd half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan As expected, the changeover took some extra time since we had to rotate the tertiary manually and then adjust pointing for the echelle port. But we got going before too long. Weather second half was mostly clear with more stable seeing, starting out moderate and eventually becoming quite good. Everything worked well, except for a crash of the slitviewer ICC which required two reboots (I may have messed up the first reboot). The exposure continued with decent tracking while the slitviewer was out of commission, so no time was really lost. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW06 D T/S 18:18 18:30 GCAMUSER didn't start after telstop ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:11 dis-slit 180(1026)* 155 75 5.4/6.4 281 18 - 1.19 18:33 NA2gdr -626(43373) 175 76 5.4/6.2 266 20 R 0.96 00:40 Echelle 412(220) 110 60 4.9/5.0 275 18 ND2 1.24 03:33 Echelle 379(194)* -52 47 4.0/4.3 271 21 ND2 0.78 * focus zeropoint was changed after this measurement -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 44 20 16 269 (W) 467 prtly cldy none 17:01 43 22 18 268 (W) 438 clear none 18:01 42 22 17 266 (W) 381 clear none 19:01 42 21 16 280 (W) 386 clear none 20:01 42 21 9 278 (W) 436 clear none 21:01 42 21 15 278 (W) 449 prtly cldy none 22:01 43 21 13 285 (WNW) 389 prtly cldy none 23:01 42 22 15 267 (W) 413 clear none 00:01 42 22 20 269 (W) 389 clear none 01:01 42 22 19 267 (W) 397 clear none 02:01 42 22 19 266 (W) 431 clear none 03:01 40 22 19 267 (W) 617 clear none 04:01 40 24 25 278 (W) 1134 clear none 05:01 39 24 22 275 (W) 1157 clear none 06:01 40 24 24 285 (WNW) 940 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
