I tried to get the instrument to readout the chip but could not get any response myself through either the mcnode or my Remark but I could see that TUI was showing that DIS was receiving at least some of my commands. A quick call to Craig was in order at this stage. He discovered that the home directory on tycho had filled up and the hub was hung up. As soon as disk space was freed up we were back in business and the observers exposure was not lost. However it took about 30 minutes to work through this problem. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half was mostly clear, with mostly good seeing -- short periods of deterioration in both conditions. Everything worked perfectly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW05 D I/S 21:19 21:49 /home on tycho full, froze mc. ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:52 dis-slit -30(1168) 182 76 7.9/9.7 285 6 - 0.83 18:01 NA2gdr 4677(48677) 192 76 7.9/9.5 271 6 R 0.75 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 48 3 3 266 (W) 49 clear none 17:01 47 2 7 324 (NW) 14 clear none 18:01 46 2 5 273 (W) 10 clear none 19:01 47 3 5 258 (WSW) 21 clear none 20:01 45 2 6 272 (W) 319 clear none 21:01 45 4 6 274 (W) 319 clear none 22:01 45 3 7 278 (W) 419 clear none 23:01 45 2 7 284 (WNW) 267 clear none 00:01 44 2 12 267 (W) 190 clear none 01:01 43 0 11 275 (W) 142 clear none 02:01 44 0 14 277 (W) 160 clear none 03:01 43 -1 14 266 (W) 263 cirrus none 04:01 43 0 16 274 (W) 773 clear none 05:01 42 0 15 269 (W) 684 cirrus none 06:01 42 1 14 282 (WNW) 788 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
