Took flats and started the Lens Monitoring Program as I calibrated the grating tilts for DIS. The seeing for the beginning of the night was excellent. So good in fact that the guider was having alot of difficulties finding stars even after I told it were they were on the chip. After an hour, I did an instrument change and turned the telescope over to the observer. Seeing degraded a bit and clouds passed through the area on several occasions but did not adversely effect the program. At 2300, we switched to the echelle for a couple of hours, then back to DIS for the remainder of the night. Seeing continued to be good to moderate for the remainder of the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:43 SPIcam -100(1181) 205 58 5.8/7.3 273 7 g' 0.6 17:44 NA2gdr 3378(52378) 206 58 5.8/7.3 273 7 R 0.67 19:13 dis-slit -10(1046) 157 66 5.6/6.1 268 7 - 0.79 19:20 NA2gdr 5305(49305) 161 67 5.5/5.9 267 7 clear 0.84 20:55 NA2gdr 1899(45899) 229 44 5.8/5.6 264 7 clear 0.83 23:23 Echelle 6(229) 252 69 6.3/5.4 271 7 nd3 0.82 01:09 dis-slit 0(999) 168 77 4.7/5.0 277 7 - 1.15 01:13 NA2gdr 4469(48469) 173 78 4.5/5.0 265 6 clear 1.05 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 48 0 6 249 (WSW) 110 clear none 17:01 44 -3 5 266 (W) 38 clear none 18:01 43 -4 9 278 (W) 3 clear none 19:01 42 -5 6 272 (W) 7 clear none 20:01 43 -5 6 268 (W) 19 prtly cldy cirrus 21:01 42 -5 7 265 (W) 14 prtly cldy cirrus 22:01 42 -5 4 258 (WSW) 12 clear none 23:01 42 -5 4 266 (W) 56 clear none 00:01 42 -4 6 265 (W) 170 prtly cldy cirrus 01:01 41 -6 5 266 (W) 82 prtly cldy none 02:01 42 -5 2 252 (WSW) 134 mstly cldy none 03:01 42 -5 13 308 (NW) 160 prtly cldy none 04:01 42 -5 11 351 (N) 551 prtly cldy none 05:01 40 -5 7 357 (N) 368 prtly cldy none 06:01 44 0 11 349 (NNW) 126 prtly cldy none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
