After several minutes it was determined the his new install of OS X on his Mac also started a firewall, which needed certain ports opened to allow Remark to work. Craig worked with him thru the process and got things running on his end. Our NA2 Guide camera ICC hard locked up around 18:49, which was discovered around 19:50 when I tried guiding and things weren't working. This didn't affect his data since the telescope was tracking very well in his 180s exposures (when I checked his data) with no image streaking. No science time was loss due to the problem, and a power cycle of the guider ICC was required to fix the problem. Seeing was sub arc second for most of the first half of the night. 2nd Half Obserserving Specialist: R.McMillan Second half went very smoothly. Seeing started out moderate and later improved to about an arcsecond. The sky was mostly clear for the first few hours, then some widespread thin cirrus moved in. Pointing with the echelle was very good and most stars came up within the subframe. The only thing that didn't work perfectly was the PMSS, which showed oscillations most times the telescope was below about 70 degrees; there are already plans to work on the PMSS this week, so that trouble should soon be cleared up. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:15 Grim-f/5 125(742) 118 62 3.3/3.9 186 11 J 0.70 18:22 NA2gdr 294(48294) 118 62 3.2/3.9 197 13 R 1.04 19:23 Grim-f/5 90(650) -20 70 3.1/3.1 225 16 H 0.99 21:08 Grim-f/5 150(729) -149 65 4.0/3.2 278 5 H 0.73 23:57 Echelle 79(-131) 18 59 4.3/3.9 273 16 ND2 1.5 03:00 Echelle 15(-269) 166 80 3.1/2.9 266 12 ND3 1.00 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 45 2 15 233 (SW) 197 Clear none 17:01 40 9 12 218 (SW) 254 Clear none 18:01 38 10 11 184 (S) 294 Clear none 19:01 37 14 11 197 (SSW) 345 Clear none 20:01 38 1 16 245 (WSW) 181 Clear none 21:01 39 -1 7 269 (W) 178 Clear none 22:01 40 2 10 283 (WNW) 187 Clear none 23:01 40 5 10 275 (W) 251 mstly clr none 00:01 40 4 14 282 (WNW) 159 mstly clr none 01:01 39 7 13 270 (W) 202 clear none 02:01 38 7 12 260 (W) 225 clear none 03:01 38 7 12 268 (W) 211 cirrus none 04:01 38 5 13 268 (W) 152 cirrus none 05:01 38 4 8 265 (W) 139 cirrus none 06:01 36 6 9 266 (W) 156 cirrus none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
