Several cycles of the ICC and controller did little to help. Craig was still on site and dug in waist deep to the problem. This took about an hour to work through. The first half program was very insensitive to seeing and guiding so no sky time was lost to this problem. 2nd half Observing Specialist: J.Dembicky Chased focus all night long as the temperature did a rollercoaster ride up and down over short periods. Seeing was anywhere from sub arc sec to 3 arc sec when the temperatures decided to climb or dive rapidly. The wind was mostly calm for the second half as well. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW01 D I/H --:-- --:-- NA2 Guider communications failure ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:44 dis-slit -20(700) 179 75 1.4/2.8 18 22 - 1.1 17:46 NA2gdr -155(43844) 182 75 1.4/2.8 28 22 R 1.1 00:24 DISSlit 130(1026) 334 43 9.2/5.3 141 2 none 1.46 00:31 NA2gdr 269(44269) 334 42 8.9/5.5 193 1 R 1.39 -------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 32 9 20 19 (NNE) 169 clear none 17:01 36 6 15 34 (NE) 86 clear none 18:01 35 4 19 16 (NNE) 87 clear none 19:01 35 6 9 359 (N) 74 clear none 20:01 36 10 18 358 (N) 100 clear none 21:01 36 14 18 356 (N) 89 clear none 22:01 37 14 27 24 (NNE) 147 clear none 23:01 39 9 17 40 (NE) 58 clear none 00:01 49 1 0 117 (ESE) 13 clear none 01:01 48 1 1 181 (S) 7 clear none 02:01 46 2 4 163 (SSE) 9 clear none 03:01 44 5 0 226 (SW) 26 clear none 04:01 44 5 0 214 (SW) 19 clear none 05:01 47 1 5 266 (W) 2 clear none 06:01 42 4 5 261 (W) 10 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
