Seeing was poor to moderate. In part this may have been as a result of poor dome seeing. I turned off the cooling fans not too long after we got on the sky to avoid pulling the humid air through the PMS and telescope. Shortly before 23:00 the humidity went above the limit and I was closed. Second Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Since the telescope was quite cool, we had to remain closed for a while even though the humidity was just below the limit. After 01:30, though, it finally dropped enough to open. The remainder of the night was mostly clear with just a few passing clouds, and seeing was moderate (1-1.5 arcsec). The focus was unstable for the first hour or two because the fans had been off for so long, but aside from that everything went well. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:35 dis-slit -200(245) 199 58 0.8/1.9 260 1 - 1.70 18:39 NA2gdr 2608(55608) 201 58 0.6/1.8 255 1 clear 1.27 01:44 DISslit -50(307) 314 44 -0.5/-1.0 226 10 - 1.59 01:49 NA2gdr -271(52728) 314 44 -0.6/-1.0 221 11 R 1.38 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 36 29 1 341 (NNW) 175 Mstly Cldy None 17:01 35 28 0 274 (W) 198 Prtly Cldy None 18:01 33 27 1 264 (W) 154 Clear None 19:01 33 27 1 257 (WSW) 174 Clear None 20:01 34 26 2 264 (W) 145 Clear None 21:01 33 26 5 267 (W) 172 Clear None 22:01 31 26 5 200 (SSW) 205 Clear None 23:01 31 26 5 189 (S) 248 Mstly Cldy None 00:01 32 27 7 261 (W) 188 ptly cldy none 01:01 32 25 9 233 (SW) 195 mstly clr none 02:01 30 22 10 208 (SSW) 225 mstly clr none 03:01 31 22 7 218 (SW) 293 mstly clr none 04:01 31 20 11 223 (SW) 175 mstly clr none 05:01 31 20 10 233 (SW) 149 mstly clr none 06:01 31 22 9 259 (W) 136 mstly clr none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
