The observers resolved their issues with using slitview from last night prior to twilight. 2nd half Observing Specialist: J.Barentine Second half was mostly quiet. The seeing degraded after 01:00 to as high as 3-4 arcseconds with a stiff northeast wind. Right around 01:00, Bart reported difficulty making the very small offsets needed to drop his targets onto the DIS slit, describing the problem as small offsets causing the object to disappear off the slitviewer entirely. At his request I took over momentarily, centered the objects on the slit, and handed control back. Although he had initially wanted to switch to imaging with SPIcam after taking some spectra, the poor seeing during most of the half caused him to stick with DIS for the duration. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 18:31 dis-slit -330(342) 23 44 4.1/6.0 314 13 - 1.98 18:45 NA2gdr -1139(39860)22 45 4.0/5.6 319 13 clear 1.42 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 42 3 10 327 (NNW) 120 mstly cldy none 17:01 41 5 3 357 (N) 199 mstly cldy none 18:01 39 6 2 303 (WNW) 197 mstly cldy none 19:01 39 9 4 339 (NNW) 239 mstly cldy none 20:01 40 9 12 314 (NW) 266 mstly cldy none 21:01 40 9 10 321 (NW) 234 prtly cldy none 22:01 40 11 7 350 (N) 280 clear none 23:01 41 10 5 358 (N) 290 clear none 00:01 40 10 17 0 (N) 252 clear none 01:01 40 9 8 8 (N) 221 clear none 02:01 40 12 23 25 (NNE) 190 clear none 03:01 41 13 24 27 (NNE) 131 clear none 04:01 41 16 21 30 (NNE) 47 clear none 05:01 43 11 14 75 (ENE) 49 clear none 06:01 42 8 3 186 (S) 45 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
