At one point, the clouds were thick enough to make the GRIM observers wait them out, but never threatening. Seeing was generally good -- well below an arcsecond much of the time with GRIM and usually just a hair under an arcsecond with SPIcam, although it took constant vigilance to keep the focus tuned. There was some confusion during first half when the guider Mac crashed (requiring a power cycle in order to recover), and the long timeout in communications caused offsets and exposures to occur out of order, but apparently only one exposure turned out to be truly useless and therefore less than a minute was lost. Aside from that, everything worked perfectly. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE MODE TIME (SEGDFVO) TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 17:42 GrIm2(f/5) 150(496) 182 70 1.2/2.4 J 1.22 18:11 GrIm2(f/5) 100(560) 93 34 1.4/1.8 8 23 J 19:34 GrIm2(f/5) 50(397) 107 52 0.8/1.0 44 16 J 1.14 20:32 GrIm2(f/5) 25(279) -139 79 0.2/0.4 31 14 J 0.66 21:45 GrIm2(f/5) -25(215) -104 66 -0.6/-0.3 19 5 J 0.99 23:18 GrIm2(f/5) -10(321) -88 46 -1.9/-1.6 6 10 K' 0.80 00:06 SPIcam -150(439) 86 38 -1.8/-2.0 350 3 z 1.2 00:08 NA2gdr 160(61160) 86 38 -1.7/-2.1 349 8 R 1.25 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 36 14 9 4 (N) 209 clear none 17:01 35 14 6 15 (NNE) 93 clear none 18:01 34 13 13 7 (N) 74 clear none 19:01 34 13 12 15 (NNE) 75 cirrus none 20:01 33 12 20 26 (NNE) 149 cirrus none 21:01 32 11 6 3 (N) 144 cirrus none 22:01 31 11 7 10 (N) 305 clear none 23:01 29 11 10 26 (NNE) 516 clear none 00:01 29 9 4 1 (N) 716 clear none 01:01 30 10 11 357 (N) 484 cirrus none 02:01 30 10 9 20 (NNE) 353 cirrus none 03:01 31 11 3 355 (N) 215 clear none 04:01 30 10 12 25 (NNE) 259 clear none 05:01 30 11 11 341 (NNW) 271 clear none 06:01 30 11 5 1 (N) 327 clear none Note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
