The UW group continued their training with DIS in both imaging and spectrograhic modes. At the time of the program change, I borrowed about 8 minutes from each program in order to get some Shack-Hartmann measurements. These were taken in conditions of poor seeing, but appeared to indicate the collimation, as set last night, is good. The telescope and all instruments used tonight behaved perfectly. Shack-Hartmann data: File Mag. az alt exp comments ---------------------------------------------- Mir002-8 6.9 263 60.1 30s crummy seeing -- maybe unusable Mir009-13 6.9 264 59.3 20s seeing a little better Analyzed 10, 11, and 12 (best seeing); had to allow threshold to increase to 0.112 for Ref and 0.234 for Mir in order to analyze. Results: Coma is negligible; recommends tilting M2 by X +0.7", Y -3.5" ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:43 DISslit -250(695) 162 70 14.7/16.9 111 11 - 1.07 21:36 DISslit -50(830) 177 75 14.6/15.6 118 18 - 1.15 23:52 DISslit 0(837) 126 55 13.2/13.9 130 15 - 1.45 01:29 DISslit 0(778) 89 63 12.4/13.0 140 18 - 1.8 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 66 43 1 200 (SSW) 257 mstly cldy none 17:01 63 44 8 152 (SSE) 318 mstly cldy none 18:01 63 43 8 103 (ESE) 266 mstly cldy none 19:01 62 44 11 124 (SE) 274 ptly cldy none 20:01 58 45 12 84 (E) 252 ptly cldy none 21:01 59 43 12 110 (ESE) 330 mstly clr none 22:01 58 45 22 125 (SE) 300 mstly clr none 23:01 57 47 18 128 (SE) 344 mstly clr none 00:01 56 47 14 131 (SE) 400 ptly cldy none 01:01 55 45 15 132 (SE) 347 clear none 02:01 54 45 18 139 (SE) 301 clear none 03:01 54 43 13 134 (SE) 308 mstly clr none 04:01 54 43 12 136 (SE) 291 mstly clr none 05:01 54 43 16 133 (SE) 262 ptly cldy none 06:01 55 43 10 163 (SSE) 279 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
