Dembicky I was training a group for UC tonight in the operations of the 3.5m telescope. I started the cooling fans around 18:30 and opened the enclosure around 19:45. Opened at 22:55. Closed again due to clouds at 23:45. 2nd half Observing Specialist: W. Ketzeback J.Dembicky (on call) The second half started with light rain. At 02:55 the skies cleared and I decided to open up. Opened at 02:59, did some test slews while the observers finished some echelle cals. Were focusing on the observers first object when clouds again rolled in. I decided to give it a few minutes before I made a decision to close or proceed and the rain sensor went off. I quickly closed the mirror covers and the dome but it was not fast enough. Some raindrops were visible upon later inspection when I could open the covers with the dome closed. The new cloud camera also was sprinkled on before I had a chance to cover it. The skies didn't break again until nearly 06:00 by then the observers had already given up for the night and gone to bed. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:05 SPIcam -110(954) 284 46 12.0/14.1 179 5 R 1.18 23:32 SPIcam 60(1009) 334 48 11.7/11.9 139 1 V 1.09 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 61 31 11 273 (W) 231 Pt.
