He logged in around 19:20 to begin calibrations, and was on the sky by 20:00. Things were quiet throughout first half, though seeing began to degrade toward midnight as winds picked up from the east. Seeing really took a dive during the period from 03:30 to 04:00. Saw another one of these phantom humidity "spikes" at 03:50 when the reported humidity shot up to 135% and back down to 70% in a period of only about 90 seconds. Another blip at 05:05 gave 428% humidity (dewpoint 32.8C). This time it lasted several cycles of the weather station. Seeing improved toward the very end of the second half but this was certainly no subarcsecond night at APO. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:41 Echelle 126(214) 192 32 11.8/14.4 135 15 ND1 1.41 21:07 Echelle -15(-107) 24 61 11.1/12.4 126 15 ND1 1.15 00:15 DISslit 0(659) -155 49 9.6/9.5 128 16 -- 1.18 00:20 NA2gdr -720( ) -153 49 9.4/9.5 125 16 clear 1.06 02:47 DISslit -100(535) -148 41 7.6/8.4 100 10 -- 2.44 02:56 NA2gdr 500( ) -145 40 7.7/8.3 123 11 clear 2.44 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 58 40 3 182 (S) 498 Clear none 17:01 63 40 9 258 (WSW) 409 Clear none 18:01 59 34 4 217 (SW) 413 Clear none 19:01 54 31 14 141 (SE) 348 Clear none 20:01 53 27 15 135 (SE) 254 Clear none 21:01 52 25 15 126 (SE) 204 Clear none 22:01 52 28 13 126 (SE) 247 Clear none 23:01 51 32 15 123 (ESE) 246 Clear none 00:01 50 45 19 132 (SE) 250 Clear none 01:01 50 34 15 132 (SE) 289 Clear none 02:01 48 34 8 108 (ESE) 268 Clear none 03:01 49 34 10 123 (ESE) 296 Clear none 04:01 46 38 15 129 (SE) 301 Clear none 05:01 46 39 15 146 (SE) 328 Clear none 06:01 46 36 9 179 (S) 305 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
