I then managed to take one star image with the Shack-Hartman tonight during E. Turners time (since SPIcam is INOP). Images were saved and Mir002-005 are the images that were taken of the star. The azimuth was 137 deg and the altitude was 75. It was an 6.8 mag star from the lookup catalog on Remark. (Hey, it's been a long time since I used the S-H, and I had to figure out the manual again.). Jeff Morgan later showed me how to reduce the S-H data and what to look for in it. I have a procedure written down for future reference as well. I turned the instrument over to Scott around 21:09 and did a quick focus for him. I grabbed some more S-H images for Jeff Morgan, as he said it was very important. For some reason none of the images looked like the worked. All I saw was what appeared to be a bias frame. I could see the star on the video monitor and it was well centered on the crosshair. If time permits in the morning I will try again, but I didn't want to cut into too much of Rene's time as things didn't appear to be working correctly. I focused DIS and handed the instrument back over to Rene at around 01:30 (it took me 5 mins to focus). Rene used the remainder of the night for his science images, so no more S-H data was taken in the morning. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:43 S-H 270(1914) 122 72 16.2/17.4 88 11 - 1.0 21:12 DISSlit 310(1326) 84 53 15.9/16.9 87 9 none 0.93 23:08 DISSlit 360(1247) -150 81 14.3/15.3 108 11 none 1.21 01:27 DISSlit 330(1213 -120 63 14.1/14.4 86 9 none 1.09 02:34 DISslit 2470(1092) 93 75 14.0/14.2 97 7 none 1.29 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 17:01 69 46 3 189 (S) 563 Mst.
