Iskra and Michael logged on around 20:00 to inquire about the weather; shortly thereafter, the site electricity failed. They started taking cals around 21:30 while the weather situation remained effectively hopeless. Finally, they gave up just short of 00:00 as it was evident the sky was not going to clear up before their scheduled end time. Utility electricity came back on around 01:00 after a series of odd power fluctuations. Paula called between midnight and 01:00 to ask about weather conditions; she decided to stay home with the understanding that I would call if conditions improved and I felt that we could open. Moderately thick cirrus and variably-high dust counts prevented that fora while, but by 02:30 it had cleared sufficiently to be able to run Paula's program. Around 03:30, Paula experienced weirdness with the slitviewer camera; the apparent behavior for individual images was increasingly negative exposure times and exposures that appeared to never end. Restarting the software on her end seems to have fixed it. Lensing went fine as scheduled. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW04 D I/S 03:27 03:33 DIS slitviewer acting strange; exposure times to go zero then negative ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 02:45 DISslit 0(1057) 36 60 20.0/18.2 3 1 - 1.51 02:52 NA2gdr 3526(57526) 35 61 19.9/18.3 359 4 R 1.41 04:22 soicam 50(1249) -12360 17.3/18.7 7 9 u' 1.03 04:25 NA2gdr 724(61724) -12360 17.3/18.6 8 8 R 0.88 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 66 38 8 103 (ESE) 1329 MstlyCldy rain 17:01 65 32 9 91 (E) 985 MstlyCldy rain 18:01 68 32 44 67 (ENE) 842 MstlyCldy none 19:01 67 27 43 62 (ENE) 1093 MstlyCldy none 20:01 62 33 29 47 (NE) 1115 MstlyCldy none 21:01 66 28 28 67 (ENE) 1250 Overcast none 22:01 67 29 2 35 (NE) 1024 Overcast none 23:01 63 36 12 254 (WSW) 3053 Overcast none 00:01 61 35 4 181 (S) 5250 Overcast none 01:01 64 32 1 150 (SSE) 5293 MstlyCldy none 02:01 68 29 3 280 (W) 1722 PtlyCldy none 03:01 67 28 4 7 (N) 1312 MstlyClr none 04:01 67 24 2 9 (N) 1221 MstlyClr none 05:01 65 30 13 26 (NNE) 2028 MstlyClr none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
