Dembicky We had a brief rain shower at around 20:30 tonight. A large thunderhead formed just to the E of us and blew a few sprinkles of rain over us. I held off on opening until I felt it would be safe (around 21:20) and the observer used the time productively to do their lamp cals with DIS. The humidity levels were also creeping up after the rain showers which gave me didn't make me feel comfortable about opening until I felt they peaked, Especially with rain threatening clouds forming just to the east of us. I finally opened the enclosure around 22:10 when the observer finished his lamp cals and the humidity and threat of precipitation seemed to be less likely. Don Lamb asked the observer for time with SPIcam tonight, which he agreed to, so I went up and switched instruments to SPIcam so we could get these observations out of the way first. Seeing was poor at 2.4 arc sec when I focused at 22:25, but that wasn't too out of line considering I just opened about 20 mins before and we had a strong east wind. Seeing improved during the night and no problems were encountered. At the end of the night we had seeing around 0.9 arc sec with SPIcam in r'. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 22:23 SPIcam -90(974) 164 36 9.2/13.2 79 19 r' 2.64 22:28 NA2gdr 4201(65201) 165 36 9.4/13.0 16 12 R 1.56 23:20 DISslit -60(684) 109 60 9.2/11.1 79 13 none 1.48 23:24 NA2gdr 5052(59052) 110 61 9.2/10.9 76 16 R 1.55 01:10 DISslit 60(870) 281 32 9.2/9.6 80 14 none 1.56 01:20 NA2gdr 2311(56311) 297 36 9.2/9.5 79 11 R 1.37 02:55 DISslit 50(726) 23 58 10.7/9.4 78 7 none 1.05 03:02 NA2gdr -2292(51707) 22 59 10.5/9.5 74 8 R 0.98 04:28 SPIcam 180(1058) 125 47 11.1/10.2 65 11 r' 0.84 04:36 NA2gdr 417(61417) 129 49 11.1/10.2 61 12 R 0.96 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 63 31 3 333 (NNW) 988 Pt.
