The skies were too hazy all night long, from the smoke in AZ, to do any sort of DIS throughput measurements. The moon did not seem near as bright, for being full, and had a ruddy tinge to it as well. Test #1 - DIS Slitview Temp tests Watch DIS slitview images as peltier cooler temperature is decreased. Record images (Bias (0s), 15s, and 60s dark). (I did this in conjunction with Test #2, which could be performed simultaneously). Note: The Dark mask used was the normal mask that we cover DIS with to keep dust out. There is a small slit (masked) in the front of it that will allow a small amount of light into DIS. This can be seen by the slit images on all the 15s and 60s images. They are not "true" darks. The images appear to start having lines form in them when the cooler is driven past a delta T of 47C. The spec on the cooler is a delta T of 40-50C, with the standard chip, and we start seeing lines right in this range. I would say that we are overdriving the cooler at temps above 15C with the default setting of -30C. This would agree with what we observer in the winter when the air temperature is cooler and we don't seem to see this effect. Test #2 - Tertiary repeatability tests Part #1 Initially I had some problems with the procedure, after 2 attempts when I would move back to SPIcam I could not find the star. I think the problem may have been due to clouds in the sky. Upon examining the cloudcam images (later), indeed this is the likely culprit. On the 3rd attempt I lost the star on the Echelle move, trying a slightly longer exposure (5s vs. 2s), the star re-appeared in the image. After that I didn't have anymore problems finding the star when I switched back and forth. I have outlined my procedure below for future reference on how to perform this test. 1) tertrot NA2 2) Slew to star, find coords and enter into remark for reslewing. 3) take image with SPIcam 4) Find X,Y coords for star and record values 5) issue MIR STAT TERT command from TCC and record TertActMount value 6) issue tertrot NA1, wait for rotation to finish 7) issue set inst=echelle, wait for finish 8) issue set focus /incr, wait for finish 9) issue gcam doread x 10) find X,Y coords for star and record values 11) issue MIR STAT TERT command from TCC and record TertActMount value 12) issue tertrot NA2, wait for rotation to finish 13) issue set inst=spicam, wait for finish 14) issue set focus /incr, wait for finish 15) issue MIR STAT TERT command from TCC and record TertActMount value 16) take image with SPIcam 17) Find X,Y coords for star and record values 18) re-slew to original star, coords entered in step #2 19) repeat from step #3, five more times ST 17 03 07 RA 18 04 00.7 Dec +22 40 49.9 Alt +73 SPIcam Filter: MSSSO V, Exposure 2sec Echelle filter: Clear, Exposure 2sec Set #1 SPIcam image: eng020626.0008.fits TertActMount=1055008., 1413543., 1411748.
