Dembicky I started cooling the enclosure around 19:30 and let the observer start their cals at 20:00. We opened the enclosure at 20:35 and focused about 15 mins later with around 1 arc sec seeing. We had a minor dust event just around instrument change, but it never went over 3400 cts so I didn't bother closing. Seeing was excellent with 0.9 arc sec thru the guider and 0.9 when I focused the Echelle. We had a little problem with the pointing on the echelle at the start of the night. A pointing correction (at 33 deg alt) put the correction star just outside the edge of the field and I couldn't get a correction. I moved to a higher alt object and did the correction there and then re-slewed back to the low alt object and the correction worked this time. Dust levels were again slightly elevated around 01:30, but we worked thru it since they didn't seem to be spiking. As the next half hour wore on though, the dust levels did a slow but steady increase and I finally closed at 02:00. We reopened briefly at the end of the night to pick up a new SN. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:54 DISslit -90(1121) 153 81 19.7/22.7 179 7 none 1.00 20:55 NA2gdr 2169(56169) 153 81 19.6/22.7 179 7 R 1.05 01:08 Echelle 89(305) -27 79 19.6/19.5 183 14 ND1 0.86 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 76 26 16 247 (WSW) 1133 Clear none 19:01 74 24 9 208 (SSW) 693 Clear none 20:01 69 21 7 210 (SSW) 758 Clear none 21:01 67 21 6 176 (S) 931 Clear none 22:01 67 23 10 177 (S) 1192 Clear none 23:01 68 25 10 179 (S) 1729 Clear none 00:01 68 26 14 175 (S) 1858 Clear none 01:01 67 26 14 184 (S) 2872 Clear Dust 02:01 62 40 18 131 (SE) 5172 Clear Dust 03:01 61 41 18 150 (SSE) 6566 Clear Dust 04:01 61 38 15 172 (S) 3452 Clear Dust 05:01 63 35 17 189 (S) 2568 Pt.
