I did get to open for cooling for a short time as it appeared the weather was improving. This soon proved to be incorrect and I was forced to close when clouds with lightning began to form nearby. I was able to open under marginal skies at 22:45 MDT. Conditions soon worsened, but we stayed open as long as possible. I closed again at switch time, 01:00 MDT. The humidity rose to over 90% and stayed that way until after 03:00 MDT, when it started bouncing between 75% and 85% on a 5 minute time scale. The humidity finally dropped low enough and remained so to allow for opening at 03:30 MDT as the wind shifted. We focused and the JHU team got about 30 mins of time before we switched for the PU program. Nothing else of note, all ran smoothly and I obtained lens images with 1.1 arcsec seeing. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:05 DIS Slit -110(814) -73 62 13.6/15.2 98 13 - 2.1" 23:09 NA2 Gdr 2808(56807) -74 62 13.5/15.1 116 19 - 1.7" 03:51 SPIcam 140(1085) 3 63 13.1/13.0 206 11 r' 1.1" 03:57 NA2 Gdr 300(61303) 1 63 13.2/13.1 208 12 R 1.2" 04:26 SPIcam 180(1171) 137 53 13.7/13.3 220 11 r' 1.1" 04:29 NA2 Gdr 569(61570) 137 53 13.7/13.3 209 13 R 1.1" --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 65 47 11 181 (S) 2124 cloudy none 19:01 62 47 14 123 (ESE) 2196 cloudy none 20:01 61 47 17 126 (SE) 1020 cloudy none 21:01 57 49 12 90 (E) 598 cloudy none 22:01 54 49 21 112 (ESE) 746 cloudy none 23:01 56 48 20 112 (ESE) 1095 cloudy none 00:01 57 48 26 137 (SE) 1775 ptly cldy none 01:01 55 48 18 146 (SE) 1199 ptly cldy none 02:01 53 51 11 151 (SSE) 1192 ptly cldy none 03:01 53 47 5 187 (S) 1510 clear none 04:01 57 43 11 205 (SSW) 1098 clear none 05:01 59 41 14 209 (SSW) 1398 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
