Dembicky The Echelle finally finished pumping this afternoon and they were cooling it down when I arrived. Because of this, I could not restart the MC right away. I found that the DIS slitviewer was inop. A bad connection on the cable was the fault. It was warm here today and the heat shut down the electronics on GRIM so I could not check its temps. The press fans were turned off by the day staff and the exhaust fans were running. Since DIS was scheduled for use tonight, I could not open the enclosure to further help cool the instrument. I finally finshed checking out the instrument around 20:42 and tonights observers started taking their cals during what remained of twilight. We finally opened up (after they finished their cals) at 21:15 with about a 4 degree temperature differential between the inside and outside of the dome. I adjusted the focus on the fly as necessary but the focus value seemed to stay elevated from normally being around zero. Possibly due to the warm temperatures outside. Seeing remained around 1.3-2.0 arc sec all night long. The rest of the night was pretty uneventful, other than some occasional clouds passing overhead. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:25 DISslit 210(1507) 114 62 20.4/23.9 276 4 none 1.79 21:29 NA2gdr -3793(50206) 115 62 20.4/23.8 279 5 clear 1.31 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 75 28 12 266 (W) 845 Pt.
