We remained closed until 03:20 when condition improved enough to open if even for a little while. Seeing was pretty poor and variable, but the sky was clear, mostly. The dust was still high, but dropping. The UW program did get a useful spectra, but it was right at the end of their time. Since the seeing was so poor I decided to forgo the lens imaging and give the remainder of the night to the UW program. The seeing as monitored through the DIS slit camera was ~1.7" and variable (and that was at airmass of 1.007!), meaning it was of little use for lens monitoring. Paula decided, just as 4am passed, that there was not enough time for any of her other project goals either, so in light of the poor conditions we closed for the night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 03:30 DIS Slit -100(878) 118 81 15.8/17.4 177 11 none 1.52 03:36 NA2 Gdr -61(?????) 124 82 15.8/17.1 177 11 R 1.61 04:02 DIS Slit -100(835) 127 83 14.8/16.2 175 8 none 1.81 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 18:01 74 25 11 274 (W) 798 cloudy none 19:01 70 27 5 266 (W) 826 cloudy none 20:01 67 24 1 344 (NNW) 1028 cloudy none 21:01 67 25 0 222 (SW) 969 cloudy none 22:01 67 23 1 205 (SSW) 1115 cloudy none 23:01 66 23 5 240 (WSW) 1099 cloudy none 00:01 65 29 12 139 (SE) 1113 cloudy none 01:01 60 42 10 126 (SE) 4762 ptly cldy none 02:01 59 45 15 143 (SE) 4794 ptly cldy none 03:01 61 41 17 148 (SSE) 1539 ptly cldy none 04:01 58 41 3 168 (SSE) 1698 clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
