McMillan The weather was difficult tonight, but we did get some work done. During twilight there was a dust spike, so flats were not possible. We opened around the end of twilight, but by the time the observers got focused and set up on a target, clouds were moving in. We tried re-opening when the clouds thinned out, only to have them thicken again. Starting at midnight, the clouds were still too thick for science, but I was able to do some engineering tests and still be ready to switch back to the Fabry-Perot as soon as conditions warranted. After that, we had a few hours of clear skies and good seeing, even delivering less than an arcsecond on a 40-minute exposure. Then clouds moved in, the seeing blew up, and the dust spiked again. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 21:36 GFP 95(1096) 235 58 11.7/12.5 201 15 4050 1.12 21:39 NA2gdr -229(63770) 236 58 11.7/12.5 183 14 R 1.11 01:51 GFP 200(1167) 210 62 11.5/11.9 200 12 4600 0.95 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 62 17 14 195 (SSW) 2875 ptly cldy none 17:01 59 13 16 200 (SSW) 2307 mstly cldy none 18:01 58 15 18 200 (SSW) 2805 ptly cldy none 19:01 55 13 19 182 (S) 2853 mstly clr none 20:01 53 16 14 204 (SSW) 3816 mstly clr none 21:01 52 8 17 193 (SSW) 2359 mstly clr none 22:01 53 3 18 208 (SSW) 1739 mstly cldy none 23:01 55 3 12 180 (S) 1623 mstly cldy none 00:01 55 5 15 217 (SW) 1586 ptly cldy none 01:01 54 5 19 215 (SW) 1936 ptly cldy none 02:01 53 9 14 198 (SSW) 2651 mstly clr none 03:01 53 4 18 194 (SSW) 2517 mstly clr none 04:01 50 14 12 212 (SSW) 2831 ptly cldy none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
