Dembicky Engineering tonight. Peter, Jeff, and Craig were putting the finishing touches on the DIS for the first part of the night which delayed me opening until they had finished. They finally finished around 21:45 and I opened the enclosure and got things ready to go. Jeff had 2 top priority jobs for me to do. 1) Get throughput measurements on DIS II done first. (All filenames are 020524.xxxx, as noted in the Throughput measurement instrunctions by Jon Holtzman). 1.5 arc sec slit used. Images taken at 5, 10, 15, 20 deg. +Alt with 0 deg Azimuth offset and 0 deg. Altitude offset with 5, 10, 15, 20 deg. CCW Azimuth from the moon. I removed the obvious collar bolts but the colling fan was in the way of getting the thing out. I spent about 20-30 mins unbolting and rebolting the baffle back in place. (It is currently in the telescope bolted the way I found it. Jon will have to show me what to do and we can try during the 2/27 engineering run. I also noted (too late) that Russet left me instructions of how to do the offsets from the TCC. I used another computer program to compute the RA and Dec for the above tests and then just slewed to that. I didn't do a rot 0 mount, so the rotator was following the sky dependant on the RA and Dec. Jeff requested using the V filter and not the pinhole, since the pinhole took more work to interpet the resulting images. I started to do an Echelle pointing model as Russet wanted (low priority but I only had about an hour left). It took me longer than expected to find a star and get the Echelle focused and it only left about 15-20 mins for doing the pointing model so I opted to just close shop a couple minutes early tonight since I would only be able to get a couple data points. We had a nice clear night all night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 23:34 DIS-II -50(741) 109 59 10.8/12.3 269 14 none 1.43 01:19 DIS-II 80(808) 12 62 10.5/10.7 287 15 none 1.07 01:21 NA2gdr 1965(55965) 12 62 10.4/10.7 285 12 R 0.98 02:12 SPIcam 80(966) -103 48 10.1/10.3 271 11 V 1.16 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 63 12 23 267 (W) 558 Clear none 17:01 62 13 24 229 (SW) 487 Clear none 18:01 59 12 22 256 (WSW) 613 Clear none 19:01 59 13 24 248 (WSW) 790 Clear none 20:01 55 12 10 259 (W) 737 Clear none 21:01 54 13 9 262 (W) 1361 Clear none 22:01 54 13 22 261 (W) 1099 Clear none 23:01 53 14 21 252 (WSW) 914 Clear none 00:01 51 14 14 274 (W) 1043 Clear none 01:01 51 11 11 292 (WNW) 1003 Clear none 02:01 50 11 7 278 (W) 1083 Clear none 03:01 49 9 14 280 (W) 938 Clear none 04:01 49 13 19 300 (WNW) 844 Clear none 05:01 48 14 20 292 (WNW) 967 Clear none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
