We were delayed due to the puffy, water filled clouds that were passing by. Once they had departed, we opened. The first spectra of a standard were curiously blank until I realized that the windowing values for the DIS chip I used were for a binned chip and we were not binning, which led to blank images since we were looking at the wrong part of the chip. Once that was figured out, all seemed to run well. Seeing was really very bad about an hour after we focused and stayed that way. There were a few frames with DIS that showed the strange readout artifacts along about 50 lines. See image apr10.0028r.fits for an example. The internet at went down from NMSU to the outside world at around 11pm. The net to educational institutions was still working as a backup and it did not interfere with observing but the majority of the internet remained down all night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- UW04 D I/S 21:10 21:30 Obs-Spec windowed DIS incorrectly ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 20:55 DISII-Slit 0(725) 152 69 9.2/11.1 153 16 - 1.13 21:45 NA2 Gdr 519(57518) 16 59 7.7/9.1 139 20 R 1.18 04:12 DISII-Slit 100(696) -81 51 7.3/7.0 191 13 - 0.98 04:18 NA2 Gdr -2536(54464) -81 51 7.3/6.9 181 17 Clr 0.97 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 57 24 15 221 (SW) 949 mstly cldy none 17:01 53 21 14 245 (WSW) 974 mstly cldy none 18:01 53 23 10 234 (SW) 980 mstly cldy none 19:01 51 22 10 225 (SW) 1083 ptly cldy none 20:01 48 22 7 228 (SW) 1410 ptly cldy none 21:01 47 30 14 152 (SSE) 1165 clear none 22:01 45 33 20 139 (SE) 986 clear none 23:01 44 33 21 127 (SE) 1007 clear none 00:01 44 33 16 132 (SE) 1086 clear none 01:01 45 31 17 134 (SE) 1307 clear none 02:01 45 30 14 168 (SSE) 1219 lt cirrus none 03:01 45 30 13 168 (SSE) 1089 lt cirrus none 04:01 47 27 14 179 (S) 1096 lt cirrus none 05:01 46 28 17 197 (SSW) 1057 lt cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
