The Adler observers waited out most of it, but with only 10-15 minutes left in their block of time and things just clearing enough to image the brightest objects, they called it a night. I opened for Holtzman et al. at about 19:15. Things were very uneventful. Seeing was very good, better than an arcsecond the whole time with numbers down into the 0.7" range as last night. Thin cirrus remained over us but did not present problems for the observers. 2nd Half Observing Specialist: R.McMillan Second half had continued cirrus and mostly sub-arcsecond seeing, with a couple of excursions up to 1.5 arcseconds. The good seeing made it necessary to tinker with the focus fairly often, making small adjustments that wouldn't have mattered under mediocre conditions. Since these focus adjustments were made on the fly, they aren't recorded in the log. Otherwise, the night was very peaceful. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG/INST/FAILURE MODE TIME S/E/G/D/O/TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- 19:31 SPIcam -50(857) 240 67 10.6/12.4 225 9 I 0.71 19:40 NA2gdr -1056(59944) 166 57 10.4/12.0 235 10 R 0.68 21:18 SPIcam 50(919) 220 48 10.3/10.6 236 10 I 0.70 --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 56 22 16 275 (W) 483 MstlyCldy none 17:01 55 20 11 257 (WSW) 517 MstlyCldy none 18:01 52 22 11 223 (SW) 448 MstlyCldy none 19:01 51 23 11 228 (SW) 467 PtlyCldy none 20:01 50 21 15 225 (SW) 365 PtlyCldy none 21:01 50 21 10 235 (SW) 446 MstlyClr none 22:01 51 19 15 237 (WSW) 541 MstlyClr none 23:01 50 19 10 247 (WSW) 513 MstlyClr none 00:01 50 19 11 256 (WSW) 545 mstly clr none 01:01 48 20 14 253 (WSW) 658 mstly clr none 02:01 47 21 14 237 (WSW) 569 mstly clr none 03:01 47 20 13 252 (WSW) 494 cirrus none 04:01 46 20 11 243 (WSW) 524 cirrus none 05:01 46 19 9 225 (SW) 437 cirrus none note: the wind was coming from the azimuth listed.
