Dembicky I filled the instruments earlier in the afternoon to attend a 10 yr anniversary party, for a co-worker at APO, in the early evening. Russet was onsite interviewing a prospective 3.5m observing specialist candidate. She opened the telescope up and just started a NA2 pointing model when I arrived around 21:20 and I took over from there. I also took the time to talk with the 3.5m candidate and finished the NA2 pointing model as well as a NA1 pointing model. We had moderate clouds during the NA2 pointing model, but a hole appeared overhead when I did the NA1. I then attempted to start some blind tracking tests and soon found that SPIcam could not write to Tycho (/export/images). A call to Craig and he quickly fixed the problem (Tycho had a new hard disk installed this afternoon and a write permission was not set correctly for SPIcam). He then asked me to take a DIS-Slit image to check that it was writing correctly and we found that the camera was INOP. My guess is that it may just be that the camera was turned off or a cable unplugged accidently while the DIS engineering going on this afternoon. Iwas getting a camera error and 0 temp reading. Since it was not imperative that we use the slitviewer, I let poor Craig go back to bed to dream of places free of computers! As soon as I was ready to start focusing SPIcam, the clouds rolled in and stopped me from taking any observations. Since the weather looked pretty much hopeless I threw the towel in around 03:30 and called it a night. ------- FAILURE LOG ------- PROG INST FAILURE TIME S/E/G/D/O TI/SHU START FINISH DESCRIPTION ----------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------- FOCUS LOG --------------- Air/Truss Wind Time Instrument Focus Az El Temp-C Dir MPH filt FWHM --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------- WEATHER LOG ---------------- Wind Precip.or Time Temp F Dewp F MPH Direction Dust Sky Conditions ------------------------------------------------------------------ 16:01 68 21 9 279 (W) 1051 Mst.
